Best Buy Canada has been an Arqspin customer since 2012, creating thousands of high quality spins with their in-house 360 photography studio. They use these spins for Best Buy and their subsidiary company Future Shop, which is Canada’s largest consumer electronics retailer.

After identifying Arqspin’s product as one that could enhance their digital space, Best Buy Canada’s photo services team began creating spins of every product they can, including laptops, cameras, watches, handbags, and luggage.

Developing a Simplified Process for 360° Spins

Best Buy Canada has two full-time, in-house photographers that create all of their spins. The initial process of creating a spin was “somewhat experimental” in order to get everything just right. After a few tries, they established an efficient 360° photography process and repeatable product photography setup that allows them to easily create the spins that they need for their site.

“Now that we have our lighting and photo setup down to a science, we can output 360 spins at a decent pace with very few hiccups,” says Andrea.

A System Optimized for Ecommerce

One of the things Best Buy Canada likes about Arqspin is the speed and efficiency of the 360° workflow, which allows them to efficiently capture, edit, and deploy 360° spins using their own product photography setup for their site. A key factor in achieving this goal has been the Arqspin Query API. The API has enabled Best Buy to seamlessly and quickly add spins to any one of their thousands of product pages.

Best Buy Canada was Arqspin’s first customer to use the Arqspin Query API. This API allows them to build product pages that dynamically query their Arqspin account to see if a spin exists with a particular SKU. If it does, the spin is displayed on the product page, otherwise a static product photo is displayed.

Best Buy reports that this API has drastically improved the speed it takes to publish – taking a process that previously took them a few months and turning it into an overnight process.


Increasing Customer Engagement

With Arqspin’s platform in place, Best Buy Canada has enjoyed many of the typical benefits of our users – including increases in interactions with their spins and product pages year over year. Their process of experimenting and refining has allowed them to provide their customers with the best online shopping experience possible.

Based on the success they have had so far, Best Buy is currently focused on experimenting further with Arqspin. Aside from scaling up the production of spins on their site, they are also investigating how Arqspin’s 360 degree spins can be incorporated into evolving marketing channels.
